The Blueprint: Discussing the past, present, and future of Ghanaian architecture

To commemorate Ghana’s Republic Day, The Nana Project & Project 1957 will hold an online event to discuss the past, present, and future of Ghanaian architecture. We hope to explore what we can learn about Ghana as a nation and ourselves as Ghanaians from examining our architecture and learn more about the role architecture has played in building the nation and the role architecture can play in the nation’s future development.

This event will explore the following themes:

  • Impact of different historical events (i.e. colonisation, independence, 4th Republic, etc) on Ghanaian architecture

  • Differences in architecture across Ghana’s regions

  • How Ghanaian architecture has changed over time

  • Contemporary Ghanaian architecture

  • How architecture can be used to support Ghana’s future development
